What is Home Watch?

The National Home Watch Association defines Home Watch as “a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues.”

Home Watch is focused on security, functionality, energy reduction and risk mitigation.  It can be described as a strategy or tool to reduce the risks of crime and disasters. A Home Watch service may be a requirement of your Insurance carrier to maintain disaster coverage if the property is vacant. The NHWA accredited Home Watch companies have a business license, are insured and bonded. House sitters or property maintenance companies may not be.

What type of reporting can I expect from you?

Sea Isle City Home Watch will send you a detailed report by email with pictures of any problems identified upon completion of inspecting the interior and exterior of your home.

Why Do I Need A Home and Property Watch Service?

So many things can happen to an unoccupied home, especially if left for long periods of time. Winter storms here in New Jersey can cause high winds, rain, snow, and power outages. This results in water leaks, mold, electrical problems, breakdowns in heating & air conditioning units, etc. The service is designed to be proactive and protect your home by reducing the risks of crime and disasters. Think about all the conditions your security system will not detect.  The report you will be sent after each visit, will have the  date and time of the visit, which may be required by some homeowner’s insurance carriers when a property is vacant for a longer period of time. With our services, you will have  a reliable person who can go to your property on demand if necessary.

Are your services expensive?

We think our services are reasonably priced for the value we provide. When you compare the possible damage due to a leak or damage by pests or vagrants with the cost, our services are an excellent value. We will be happy to discuss our pricing for home watch services and any additional services you may require at a free consultation.

What are your credentials?

Sea Isle City Home Watch proudly displays the Accredited banner of the National Home Watch Association. We have been vetted and approved by this organization to insure we are bonded and insured for your protection. We also subscribe to the NHWA’s Code of Ethics.

Can you help me with home maintenance services?

While we do not provide home maintenance services, we can refer you to quality contractors or vendors and coordinate access to your property.

Do I have to sign a long term contract?

The answer is NO. You will not sign a binding long term contract. We are only asking our customers to sign a service agreement which describes the services, frequency, duration, cost, and terms of the Home Watch services. This agreement is kept on file by Sea Isle City Home Watch for the purpose of billing, scheduling and as proof of property access if requested by law enforcement. If not cancelled or modified, the agreement will renew automatically on a yearly basis. It’s that simple.

What is Sea Isle City Home Watch?

Our Home and Property Watch service is designed to put your mind at ease while you are away from your home. The interior and exterior of your home is inspected at your desired interval.  I use a comprehensive checklist to look for any potential issues or problems. If a problem does arise, you will be notified so that the problem can be dealt with quickly and in a cost-effective manner.

Who will be in my home?

Sea Isle City Home Watch is owned and operated by a Retired Chief of Police, with over 27 years in Law Enforcement.  I am licensed, bonded, accredited, certified and insured.  This benefits you because you have a trained and trusted set of eyes to watch over your property. I will know your home and will know when something is out of order. I am the ONLY person entering your home, unless you specifically request that another vendor be allowed to enter the premises.

My alarm company provides security for my home. What value do you add?

An alarm company monitors entry into your home or fire alarms but they do not monitor potential problems that can occur due to broken pipes, mold, pests or vagrants. We identify those problems or the possibility of their occurrence and notify you for guidance.

Do you provide key holder services?

Absolutely! We can coordinate access to your property for any situation at an hourly rate. All we need is your notification of date and time and any instructions you have.

If you find a problem what type of notification will I receive?

Sea Isle City Home Watch will send you a report upon completion of our visit to your home. Any problems identified will be accompanied by pictures and details of the problem. If we take any immediate action to prevent further damage we will contact you immediately to discuss what occurred and consider what course of action is needed for the repair.

If I need coordination with contractors doing work on my home can you help?

Sea Isle City Home Watch will provide access services and remain on-site for an hourly charge. We ask for at least a 48 hours notification to schedule our personnel. 

How often should I have Sea Isle City Home Watch visit my home?

There is no absolute best answer to this question. This depends on where the property is located, will the water be turned off, the age and quality of equipment left running, the weather, how much mail you receive, will you have remote monitoring capabilities like WiFi thermostats to detect a system failure? Twice a month Home Watch service is the least amount of visits most experts recommend. Again, this is a very personal choice, there may be specific reasons to increase the quantity of visits. Think about it, two weeks is a very long time to have a phone book or package laying in your driveway or for a broken window to be left unchecked in your home.
